Component Update Installation Instructions for CSAV for NetWare(r) RELEASE NOTES Notes on Command AntiVirus for NetWare (CSAV) Version 4.61c component update. 03/30/01 PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS None for this release. FIXES Some users reported that files without extensions that were excluded in the EXCLUDE LIST are still being scanned. This has been fixed. SPECIAL NOTES INSTALLATION This component update contains the following file: NW03EPE1.EXE -- a self-extracting executable that contains the following files: - F-PROT.NLM - the updated file. - INSTALL.TXT - contains the installation instructions. This component update can be installed in two ways. First, it can be installed so that it is deployed automatically. Second, it can be manually installed. The following sections provide instructions for each type of installation. AUTOMATIC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS USING FPNADMIN To automatically install the component update, follow these instructions: 1. Download the component update file to a temporary directory. 2. Go to the temporary directory containing the file. 3. Double-click the file to extract the files that are contained within it. 4. In FPNAdmin, unload Command AntiVirus from the server by using the Advanced menu's Unload CSAV for NetWare option. NOTE: You can also type the following command at the NetWare console: csav unload . 5. From the Deploy menu select Deploy Selected Files. 6. Specify the specific name and directory of the new F-PROT.NLM file, and click OK. 7. Reload Command AntiVirus. This completes the installation of the component update. MANUAL INSTALLATION ON INDIVIDUAL COMPUTERS To manually install the component update, follow these instructions: 1. Download the component update file to a temporary directory. 2. Go to the temporary directory containing the component update file. 3. Double-click the file to extract the files that are contained within it. 4. At the NetWare console, unload Command AntiVirus from the server by typing the following command : csav unload NOTE: You can also use the Advanced menu's Unload CSAV for NetWare option in FPNAdmin. 5. Delete the old F-PROT.NLM from your CSAV program folder. The default is sys:system\f-prot. 6. Copy the file called F-PROT.NLM from the temporary directory to your CSAV program folder. Choose to overwrite the existing file. NOTE: You may want to store a copy of the original file elsewhere in case it is necessary to roll back the update. 7. Reload Command AntiVirus.
